I hope our little security demonstration didn’t cause you too much frustration. We just wanted to give you an indication of what a thief is up against if he tries to tamper with a Volkswagen commercial vehicle.

Security should be our concern, not your worry.

When a van is as desirable as a Volkswagen commercial vehicle, it’s bound to turn a few heads. But thanks to our wide range of security options, thieves will have to be content with admiring it from afar.

Standard security features across the range include all steel monocoque bodies, engine immobilisers and steel bulkheads. All models come with optional rear unglazed windows (standard on the LT), and the Transporter and Caddy offer optional remote control central locking.

In addition to the standard security features on your chosen model, you can opt for a special ‘high security package’. This incorporates ‘slamlocks’ which automatically lock when the doors are closed, including a heavy-duty ‘deadlock’ mechanism which is manually locked with a key. The locking system comprises the following features:

  • Reinforcement – a heavy duty steel plate behind the body panel
  • Anti-drill – hardened steel pin within the lock chamber to break drill bits
  • Anti-tamper – smooth outer design to resist screwdrivers
  • Anti-pick paracentric keyway – resists attempts to pick the lock
    • You can’t blame a van thief for wanting to get his hands on a Volkswagen. The Transporter is the world’s best selling commercial vehicle, the LT range is renowned for its versatility and the Caddy Van and Pickup are hard to beat for style and practicality. But with our tight security firmly in place, a crook would be best-advised to seek an easier target.
