Dear Mr Sample,
This year, thanks to your generous support, many people will be enjoying a
Christmas they thought they’d never see. That’s why I’m hoping you will respond
to this last minute appeal and give whatever you can to help us create more
Christmases for more people. Not just this year, but year after year – by developing
new, kinder treatments and getting closer to the day when all cancers are cured.
Your donation – such as a gift of £10 – could help make the difference between
families being devastated by cancer or spending many happy Christmases together.
More than one in three people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some
point in their lives. So every week, every pound and every person counts towards
reducing these frightening odds. Your support is helping to save more lives than
ever before. Together we’ve helped to double cancer survival rates over the past
40 years – giving millions of people more precious time together.
Take Neve Francis, for example, who was diagnosed with cancer on Christmas Day
in 2007 when she was just two years old. Five years later, she is now healthy and
looking forward to a happy Christmas with her family. I’ve enclosed Neve’s story
so you can read more about her brave triumph over leukaemia.
We are the only charity in the UK fighting over 200 types of cancer. And we’re
determined to go on helping people like Neve by pioneering new ways of
preventing, controlling and curing the disease. We could never have come as
far as we have without you – and our life-saving work cannot continue without
your support, as none of our research receives any government funding at all.
